Good morning, or evening depending on when you read this post. I would like to start by saying I hope everyone in the U.S. had a great 4th of July!
This week I want to talk about controlling your data usage on your US Cellular Android powered device.
First let me recommend a very handy little app called Data Switch by TomatoX, put this app on your main home screen for easy access.
Now for those of you who are not US Cellular customers message me and I will be happy to answer any questions you may have and help you switch in any way I can.

This week I want to talk about controlling your data usage on your US Cellular Android powered device.
First let me recommend a very handy little app called Data Switch by TomatoX, put this app on your main home screen for easy access.
- set apps which update in the background to sync at longer interveals. (Facebook, Google+, Twitter, your weather app, etc.)
- Use WIFI when possible (most places have free WiFi now), to do this I suggest putting a widget on your main home screen. Go to menu>settings>wireless & networks>WiFi settings click on "notify me when an open network is available".
- Send text and MMS messages instead of email when possible.
- Streaming services (Netflix, Hulu, navigation apps like Google maps, online music service, etc) are huge data users, monitor your data usage when you stream over 3G/4G service
- Download and use mobile apps instead of your devices web browser, and turn off location data in the background if it is not needed.
Now for those of you who are not US Cellular customers message me and I will be happy to answer any questions you may have and help you switch in any way I can.
